Background

Origin & History

Österreichisch Weiß, or "Austrian White", is almost forgotten today. DNA profiling of Sylvaner, a grape grown across Germany and Alsace, showed that its parents were Savagnin and this Austrian variety, which is otherwise known only from a few old collections.
