Background
Origin & History
Bornova Misketi is a medium-sized, aromatic white grape from Bornova in İzmir, in the Aegean, where misket (Muscat) grapes have long been grown; Anatolian Muscats are often said to be ancestors of the Muscats of the world. It also grows around Manisa.
It has a naturally high sugar content and a highly aromatic profile of rose and orange blossom with citrus and stone fruit. Traditionally it was made in late-harvest, semi-sweet and sweet styles, and increasingly it is made dry.
