Background
Origin & History
Goruli Mtsvane takes its name from Gori, the main town of Shida Kartli in central Georgia; mtsvane means 'green'. It is a late-ripening grape, and it makes lively white wines with aromas of lime, wildflowers and spring honey.
In Kartli it is most often blended with Chinuri, and sometimes Aligoté, for the sparkling wines of the Ateni gorge. No DNA parentage has been published for it.
