Survives in small plantings and collections, mainly as a parent of Müller-Thurgau.
Background
Origin & History
Madeleine Royale was long thought to be a seedling of Chasselas. DNA profiling in 2000 showed instead that it is a cross of Pinot Noir and Trollinger, and that it was the second parent of Müller-Thurgau, whose other parent is Riesling. It is grown in very small amounts today.
