Vosne-Romanée
Cool continental
Burgundy's most prestigious village: the home of Romanée-Conti and a cluster of Grand Crus.
Overview
About Vosne-Romanée
Vosne-Romanée is a small village with six Grand Crus inside its boundaries — La Romanée, Romanée-Conti, La Tâche, Richebourg, Romanée-Saint-Vivant and La Grande Rue — and two more, Échezeaux and Grands Échezeaux, in the neighbouring Flagey-Échezeaux. Romanée-Conti is a monopole, owned entirely by the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti.
The wines are known for their silkiness and complexity: red fruit, spice, rose and a mineral depth, rather than sheer power. Prices for the best are among the highest in the wine world.
Vosne-Romanée is marked on the map.
France
Shaded: Côte-d'Or. Map units are states, provinces or départements, so a smaller place appears as the larger area that contains it.

What the vines grow in
Limestone and clay-limestone on the mid-slope, with a well-balanced mix of stone and clay. The Grand Crus form a band across the middle of the hill.
