Overview

About Burgenland

Burgenland is the easternmost and warmest of Austria's wine states, on the edge of the Hungarian plain. Around the shallow Neusiedlersee, autumn mist encourages , and the area is famous for sweet wines, including the Ausbruch of Rust. Further inland, Mittelburgenland and the Eisenberg are the heartland of Blaufränkisch.

Zweigelt, St. Laurent and Blaufränkisch are the main reds, and dry whites are made in the Leithaberg hills.

Burgenland is marked on the map.

Austria

Shaded: Burgenland. Map units are states, provinces or départements, so a smaller place appears as the larger area that contains it.
