Arka plan
Köken ve tarih
Aramon's origin is uncertain, but DNA profiling shows Gouais Blanc as one parent; the other parent is unidentified. When the railways opened northern markets to the south of France in the 19th century, Aramon became the Languedoc's workhorse: it yields enormously, resists mildew, and made cheap, light red wine in bulk. It was also a parent of Petit Bouschet.
Severe frosts in 1956 and 1963 hit it hard, Carignan replaced it, and by 2000 only around 9,000 hectares remained in France.
