Arka plan
Köken ve tarih
Listán Prieto was widely grown in Castile in the 16th century, and Spanish colonists took it to Mexico, Peru, Chile, Argentina and, through the missions, California. DNA fingerprinting at Madrid's national biotechnology centre showed that the American Mission grape is a genetic match, though it has since developed its own local forms.
In Chile, as País, it was the country's main grape for centuries, and old bush vines in Maule and the south are now made into light, fresh reds. In Argentina, as Criolla Chica, it is a parent of Torrontés Riojano, together with Muscat of Alexandria.
