Meursault is the Côte de Beaune's most productive white-wine village, and although it has no Grand Cru, its best Premier Crus — Perrières, Genevrières and Charmes — are ranked among the world's finest whites. Almost all the wine is Chardonnay.
The classic Meursault is rich and round, with hazelnut, butter and a touch of honey, tempered by a mineral edge in the best examples. La Paulée de Meursault, a lunch held after the harvest, is one of Burgundy's annual celebrations.
